INF 270: WordPress — Week 7: Checkout Settings
Enable WooPayments
- Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments
- Enable WooPayments
- Uncheck everything except the default credit card option
- Create your testing account
Now try checking out and enter the test card number. Enter any valid expiration date and CVV.
Shipping options
Set Locations
- Go to WooCommerce → Settings → General
- Set Shipping and Selling location options
- Set it to ship only to the United States
Create Shipping Zones
- Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Shipping
- Click "Add Shipping Zone"
- Name the zone "United States"
- Under "Zone regions" select "United States"
Create Shipping Methods
- Click "Add Shipping Method"
- Choose "Flat Rate" and click "Add Shipping Method"
- Click "Edit" under the new Flat Rate method
- Change the name to "Basic Shipping"
- Set the cost to $5.00 and save changes
Repeat the above to create an Express Shipping option with a higher cost.
Create free shipping after a threshold
- Click "Add Shipping Method"
- Choose "Free Shipping" and click "Add Shipping Method"
- Click "Edit" under the new Free Shipping method
- Set the minimum order amount for free shipping
- Save changes
Add local pickup
- Click "Local Pickup" on the top menu
- Enable Local Pickup
- Set your pickup location
Work Time
- Set up your credit card payments
- Do a test transaction using the test card number
- Restrict your shipping to the United States
- Add different shipping options - include free in-person pickup, a standard shipping option, an express shipping option, and free shipping on orders over a certain amount
- Continue to work on your page content - replace placeholder text with real text, images, and other media as needed
- Edit and crop your images to good sizes for display in your templates. Use Canva, Photoshop, or another tool of your choice.
- Make sure your site meets the requirements for the Final Activity Check-In due on Sunday
- Work on your discussion board posts.
